Belial (ベリアル, Beriaru), more commonly referred to as the Demon Wolf (鬼ウルフ, Oni Urufu), is a chakra beast currently sealed within Ren Kuroi of Konohagakure. The wolf was first sealed into the Fire Temple, located within the Land of Fire by an unnamed Sage, secondly it suffered abuse by the hands of Takashi Kuroi during a short time, it was sealed within him. Lastly, during The Fire Temple Investigation Arc, Belial managed to escape Takashi and seal itself within Ren Kuroi.

Personality[]
Belial is characterised as a cynical, malicious and sadistic being, with a distinct sense of honor and pride. In a flashback however, it is revealed that Belial cared greatly about the Unnamed Sage, viewing him with great respect for the way he treated the chakra beasts and even shed tears after the Sage had imparted his final words to them.
This sentiment was extended to its brethren, Belial would occasionally get into "humanly" quarrels with the other chakra beasts. Most notably Castiel. Belial even told Ren, that it was seemingly glad that Daisuke Shiroi was Castiel's vessel, that it could finally give the "kitten" the long awaited "thrashing" it deserved. While Ren wondered if this statement was meant to be taken lightly or seriously, the wolf replied that it was to be taken as the former.
Because of its long history of both its forced subjugation by Hohenhiem and being sealed within the Takashi Kuroi, Belial expressed intense hatred and distrust for humans, even showing its animosity toward Ren whenever they communicated. The two had a very antagonistic relationship throughout most of the series, with Ren trying to harness the wolf's power to perform techniques that would normally be impossible for a ninja of her age, and Belial seizing any kind of opportunity to gain control over Ren, provoking her rage and thus allowing its influence within its chakra to consume her.
This status quo would remain between the two until Ren experiences an intense mental breakdown and loses her mind completely.
Appearance[]
Although Belial is a wolf with black and red fur and red eyes, it possesses the upper-body structure of a human, complete with opposable thumbs on its clawed hands. During the last remaining days of an Unnamed Sage, Belial was a young pup much smaller than its present-day self, but according to the wolf, it was still much larger than the Sage. As time passed, Belial's size increased to be around the same height, if not taller, as the Hokage Monument.
When Hohenhiem was unable to "rifle through her mind" after invading Ren's subconscious because of Belial's protection, he separated Belial from its chakra, its entire physique became visibly emaciated, but it later regained its healthy look after forcefully pushing out Hohenhiem from Ren's subconscious and consuming some of her chakra.
Abilities[]
Being one of the strongest of the nine chakra beasts, it is said that Belial can create tsunamis and flatten mountains with just a single swipe from its tail. With its massive supply of chakra, it can turn its roar into a powerful shock wave that can repel and destroy anything within its radius, increase its physical strength and speed, and fire Chakra Beast Balls. Belial much like the other chakra beasts, has the ability of Insertion, which allows it to seal itself within a person when it is near death or in a time of crisis. However, according to Belial, the process of Insertion is only effective when the person's soul accepts Belial to take residence within that person. It works whether the person is conscious of the decision or not.

- The name "Belial" comes from the fallen angel and one of the Four Crown Princes of Hell, alongside Satan, Leviathan, and Lucifer. He also appears in the Goetia as the 68th spirit. He was created after Lucifer and is of his order.
