Other Jutsu

Using his closed tessen as a fulcrum, Souka uses Shape Transformation to reform the original Flying Swallow into a technique that can strike opponents up to ten meters away. Because the technique can be initiated near instantaneously, it also allows for a great variation of surprise attacks. Because of the wind-nature of the jutsu, the blade's cutting potential is far above normal steel and when it is used in a traditional swordsmanship matter, it outclasses any katana it meets with devastating results.

Behind the Scenes Edit

  • The Flying Swallow is a shōgi piece used in a large-board variant called taikyoku shōgi, which is possibly the most challenging chess-like game in existence, with over 400 pieces of more than 200 types on either side. When promoted, it evolves into a rook.
