Hinome Hyūga (日向 日の目 Hyuuga Hinome) is a jōnin-level shinobi hailing from Konohagakure, born into the main house of the village's renowned Hyūga Clan. Considered a natural talent among her clan, Hinome's skills were held in high regard, and she quickly rose through the ranks of ninja, becoming a full-fledged jōnin before she was even a teenager.

Hinome would later gain further renown throughout both her clan and her village as the first Hyūga in the history of the clan to progress her eyes to another stage: the Tenseigan. Such a feat would normally be near impossible, but Hinome was later revealed to be the transmigrant of Hamura Ōtsutsuki, the brother of the Sage of the Six Paths (六道仙人, Rikudō Sennin), and the progenitor of the Hyūga bloodline.

Background Edit

Previous Incarnation Edit

Hamura Ōtsutsuki, Hinome's past life

Hinome is the only known transmigrant of Hamura Ōtsutsuki, essentially the reincarnation of the second and youngest son of Princess Kaguya Ōtsutsuki. Hamura was one of the first humans to be born with chakra, born to Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, the woman who had consumed the Shinju's fruit, and gained the chakra of the creature. Alongside his brother, Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, the two Sages used the Chibaku Tensei to seal away their mother, creating the moon, and sealed the Shinju into Hagoromo.

Due to his Sage powers, Hamura's Byakugan eventually progressed into a Tenseigan, believed to have happened after Hamura and he defeated Kaguya. Sometime after he and his brother sealed the Shinju, Hamura and the remainder of the Ōtsutsuki Clan left the planet to go to the moon, so they could safeguard Kaguya's remains, the Gedō Mazō. Being the progenitor of Konohagakure's esteemed Hyūga clan, Hamura did have children at some point in his life, though due to his early departure from the planet, it is unknown when.

On the moon, Hamura's path mirrored his brothers; while Hagoromo founded the Shinobi of Earth, Hamura instead founded the Shinobi of the Moon, leading the Ōtsutsuki Clan in the teachings of Ninshū, much as his brother tried to lead humanity. Additionally, he created the energy vessel known as the Tenseigan — the name also given to his newly evolved eyes — and many Ōtsutsuki willingly offered their Byakugan to the vessel, in order to amplify its power and gather natural energy. In doing so, Hamura cultivated the moon, a barren wasteland, into a place suitable for natural life.

When Hamura died, his chakra entered the cycle of Saṃsāra, reincarnating back onto the planet below, while his soul is believed to have passed into the Pure World. It is presumed that Hamura had other transmigrants along the centuries sine he and his brother lived, though the exact amount is unknown. His chakras eventually were reincarnated into Hinome Hyūga, a member of the very clan descended from him.

Current LifeEdit

After presumably many other transmigrants, Hamura's chakra was reincarnated into Hinome, the current heir to the legacy of the Hyūga clan. Hinome's grandfather, the elder of the Hyūga clan, noted the strength of her eyes from a very young age. His belief in her skill was reinforced when Hinome began to train under her father at the age of four — a genius even among the talented Hyūga clan, Hinome found herself coming to grips with the basics of the Gentle Fist and Byakugan with little to no effort, her progress astounding her parents and grandparents, betraying their expectations.

Despite her status, Hinome's life remained relatively normal; the only oddity about her was her prodigal skill and advanced use of the Byakugan at a young age. During her time as a Gennin, Hinome was noted to have breezed through their basic missions with no issue whatsoever, often seeming as if she was showing up her teammates by simply operating at her own pace, something her Jōnin sensei was quick to reprimand her for numerous times. The only true challenges in Hinome's life presented themselves when her advanced training began; the basics of the Gentle Fist were something that Hinome had put behind her as a child and delving into the principles of the technique, understanding how the Hyūga form was meant to be used, was were Hinome truly struggled. Physical attributes were one thing; the mental aspect of learning took on a whole separate curve.

As her training advanced, so did Hinome's skills. She became a Chūnin at age 6, and as she gained rank, her training merely became harder. Hinome was introduced to the Suiryūsei (水流静, "Water Flow Control"; literally "commanding the movement of the water"), the three-step method of utilizing the Hyūga clan's Gentle Fist in its proper form, as well as advanced Hyūga techniques meant to be inherited by the head of the clan: the Eight Trigrams Palms Revolving Heaven, the Eight Trigrams Sixty Four Palms, and from here, Hinome developed her skills and both under his father's watchful eye, and on her own, choosing to hone her skills and perfect them of her own accord.

Hinome became a jōnin at the age of 11, and it was during this time that a unique, and strange event began to occur within the girl. Unbeknownst to her, she harbored the passionate soul and immense chakras of Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki, the younger son of Kaguya Otsutsuki and brother to Hagoromo Otsutsuki, the Sage of the Six Paths. The contact was simple at first, and Hinome didn't immediately recognize the imprint of Hamura's personality trying to make itself known to the Hyūga girl. It was several years later, when Hinome was in her teens, that the barrier was broken, and Hamura was able to fully make himself known to her. Hamura explained the reincarnation process to Hinome in as much detail as he could, and explained to her exactly what she was — his transmigrant, and inheritor of his powerful chakra and unique skills. Hinome, confused as to why she had been 'chosen', questioned the nature of the reincarnation cycle, and why Hamura had chosen her as his vessel. The deceased man told her that it wasn't a matter of choice; her body was simply the one his soul and chakra had chosen to revive itself in, but with his powers, she could make a change in the Shinobi world.

Armed with knew knowledge, Hinome became a fully-realized transmigrant, and discovering Hamura's chakra led to only further discoveries, and the awakening of her Tenseigan.

Personality Edit

Appearance Edit

Hinome

A younger Hinome

Hinome has dark brown hair, with side-locks that frame her face and extend to her chest, and fair skin. She also has the customary white eyes befitting of the Hyūga Clan. Like the rest of her clan, she possesses the renowned Byakugan which, when activated, stimulates the veins and arteries immediately around her eyes to protrude much more prominently.

Hinome's traditional attire — like many of the Hyūga clan — consists of a simple white kimono when at home, also wearing a dark undershirt underneath. Notably, Hinome considers this attire to be her casual wear, as, when not on missions, even when visiting the village, she dons this simple attire as opposed to more casual clothes worn by other villagers.

Abilities Edit

Hinome was acknowledged as a prodigal talent as a child, well before she entered the academy. Following this natural talent, Hinome excelled in her lessons with relative ease, mastering difficult skills that would normally take years in the span of months; the physical side of skills coming easier to her than the philosophical side, but even these would soon be mastered. She is renowned as one of the greatest masters of the Gentle Fist to grace the Hyūga clan in modern times, and is credited as the strongest Hyūga ever to be born, mostly in part due to inheriting Hamura's impressive chakra and abilities.

Her set of skills revolves around the use of her Byakugan and Gentle Fist, having mastered the various techniques taught to her by the elders within her clan, and she utilizes them with impressive skill. Her Byakugan, unnaturally strong even as a child, has among the furthest range of any Hyūga currently alive, though Hinome admits that Hamura and Kaguya Ōtsutsuki could see further than even she can, hinting that her potential as Hamura's transmigrant is not yet fully achieved.

In addition to advanced abilities, Hinome has access to the basic skills of all ninja, such as the ability to dispel Genjutsu — amplified by the use of Tenseigan Chakra Mode, a surge of chakra which alters the flow and can release her from Genjutsu should the need arise — replacing her body through the Body Replacement Technique, and assorted skills with weaponry, despite the fact that, as Hyūga, Bukijutsu is a rarely used skill with their form of combat.

Chakra Edit

Chakra

Hinome's being immersed in her chakra

As a member of the main family of the Hyūga clan, Hinome inherited chakra directly Hamura Ōtsutsuki, a fact only exacerbated due to being his transmigrant, and thus, possessing his chakra in full force and volume. Because of this, Hinome's chakra is known to be potent and gargantuan in her reserves, and in combination with her masterful chakra control, Hinome is able to create the perfect ratio of chakra to any technique used, utilizing a technique to maximum effect whilst conserving chakra. This skill allows her to fight for longer than most other individuals, as Hinome is far less likely to run out of chakra than others in the middle of battle. Even as a child, her potent chakra was noted by her grandfather in the strength of her Byakugan.

Due to the sheer volume of chakra she possesses, it is a rare feat indeed for Hinome to 'run out' of chakra, and the intensity and volume of her chakra can only be increased further through enhanced states of being, such as her Tenseigan Chakra Mode. As her chakra is the same as that of Hamura, it has the same qualities in terms of strength and feeling.

Ninjutsu Edit

Nature Transformation Edit

After being promoted to Jōnin, Hinome began to develop skills in the line of Natura Transformation. While the Hyūga generally focus on the utilization of taijutsu, and thus, Nature Release is rarely needed for a master of physical arts, Hinome was looking to expand her skills, and delved into the training headfirst. Her elemental affinity for chakra is the Wind Release chakra nature, a powerful chakra nature useful for cutting and ripping objects to shreds. Her secondary was Lightning Release, generate lightning by increasing the high frequency vibrations of their chakra, allowing for piercing damage and fast movement.

After fully awakening her Tenseigan, and thus receiving the Truth-Seeking Balls, Hinome's Nature Transformation expanded to include all known basic natures, as well as Yin Release and Yang Release. Despite this, and professing to possess skills in Nature Transformation, it mostly makes itself known when using the Truth-Seeking Balls.

Dōjutsu Edit

Byakugan Edit

Hinome Byakugan

Hinome's Byakugan

As a member of the Hyūga Clan, Hinome's inherited the Kekkei Genkai dōjutsu known as the Byakugan. Manifesting normally as pupilless white irises, when activated, the Byakugan's pupils become more distinct, and the veins near their temples bulge, signifying the intense flow of chakra from the brain to the eyes; She isn't blind. Hinome mastered the basic abilities of the Byakugan at the tender age of six, through the intense training from her parents.

When the Byakugan is activated, Hinome is granted a near 360º field of vision, except for one blind spot at the back of the neck above the first thoracic vertebra, and the range of her vision increases drastically. Initially, she could 100 metres in any direction, but through intense training, extended this eyesight to 10 kilometres. She also gains additional forms of sight, capable of seeing in x-ray, observing the skeletal structure of the opponent, and the ability to see chakra networks, as well as see through solid objects, and objects made of chakra as well, and as such, can distinguish any form of clone from the original, with the notable exception of Shadow Clones.

Tenseigan Edit
TenseiganHinome

Hinome's activated Tenseigan

After awakening her powers as a fully realized transmigrant of Hamura, Hinome's Byakugan reacted to the man's Sage Chakra, allowing her eye to evolve. The end result was a unique eye manifested by Hamura centuries ago, and thought to be exclusive to the Ōtsutsuki; the Tenseigan.

The Tenseigan is an evolved form of the Byakugan; in fact, it is the eye's only evolution, which would lead one to assume the Tenseigan is of a class similar to the Mangekyō Sharingan. This assumption is false; the Tenseigan is an eye of a Sage, and as such, is in the class of the Rinnegan. While Hinome retains the use of her Byakugan based abilities, the chakra flow has refined to the point where it no longer stresses the veins near the temples, and her visual acuity outstrips both the Rinnegan and the Byakugan by far; to compare the eyes would be like comparing a lake to a puddle.

Hinome's Tenseigan Chakra Mode

Despite being a dōjutsu, the Tenseigan's abilities do not lie in the eyes. Manifesting the Tenseigan grants Hinome immense chakra reserves, tapping into the chakra of Hamura. This allows her to manifest this chakra outside of her body, flawlessly combining it with natural energy, forming the Tenseigan Chakra Mode (転生眼チャクラモード Tenseigan Chakura Mōdo), a heightened transformation unique to her by virtue of possessing these blessed eyes. This is referred to as natural energy wearing (気の佩用, Ki no Haiyō) as Hinome is quite literally shrouded in the power of the Sage itself; natural energy worn as raiment.

The Tenseigan Chakra Mode enhances every physical attribute of Hinome — strength speed, durability — to inhuman levels, allowing her to combat the likes of a Tailed Beast with relative ease. Additionally, this state grants Hinome the ability to manifest and wield Truth-Seeking Balls, spheres of black, malleable chakra that combine natural energy with chakra.

Additionally, Tenseigan grants Hinome the ability to manipulate repulsive forces(斥力, sekiryoku) and attractive forces (引力, inryoku), essentially giving her abilities similar to the Shinra Tensei and Banshō Ten'in. Through the former, she can push away any object through chakra. A case of a very powerful defense, manipulating repulsive forces allows Hinome to repel any attack, physical or spiritual, no matter the size, power, or mass of the oncoming attack. Through the latter, Hinome is capable of employing the reverse; drawing objects towards Hinome rather than repelling them. Both of these techniques have a limit of five seconds before being used again, similarly to their Rinnegan counterparts.

Through the Tenseigan, Hinome also gains the ability to absorb the chakra of an individual; this is done either from a distance, by generating a sphere through which the chakra is siphoned, but it can also be done through tactile contact. No matter who the target is, if Hinome completely drains their chakra, they will be killed if they do not receive immediate medical attention. On targets such as jinchūriki, whose chakra volume is naturally higher, the resultant drain is potential more lethal. There is a limit to this ability: Hinome is incapable of absorbing the chakra of those who have Hamura's chakra , making a Hyūga clan member, or an Ōtsutsuki clan member desdended from Hamura, immune to this technique.

The final ability granted by the Tenseigan is the ability to fly under Hinome's own power.

Truth-Seeking Balls Edit

Also referred to as a Chakra Rosary (チャクラの数珠, Chakura no Juzu), the Truth-Seeking Balls (求道玉, Gudōdama) are a technique Hinome can use while using the Tenseigan Chakra mode. While using these unique orbs, they manifest as nine orbs floating behind her back in a halo-like formation. These spheres are comprised of all five elemental nature transformations, Yin-Yang Release, as well as Hamura's Six Paths Sage Chakra. These spheres are malleable, capable of taking any shape. Due to this trait, they function as both offence and defence, and with them, Hinome can mold them into various things, such as staffs or shields, to serve various tasks. Hinome can even form barriers with the spheres by either using a singular sphere to form a solid barrier, or combining multiple spheres at various points and linking them together with her chakra, similarly to the Six Red Yang Formation, creating a powerful barrier.

When Hinome infuses these orbs with her Tenseigan chakra, they glow green. Taking advantage of their primary natures, Hinome can favour one nature release over the other, amplifying its power and creating a Truth-Seeking Ball based on any of the known basic elements. While applying Yin-Yang release to the spheres, they can entirely negate any ninjutsu; this does not apply to Senjutsu however, which disrupts the flow of the Truth-Seeking Ball's chakra and causes it to lose shape. While infusing the orbs with her chakra, Hinome can perform a variety of acts with them, ranging from creating platforms, shields, cyclones and even weaponry powerful enough to cleave apart a planetary body.

Unless the Truth-Seeking Balls are destroyed by an opposing technique (a feat not capable by normal ninja, as ninjutsu is simply negated and normal humans cannot touch the orbs), Hinome will never run out of the supply of these spheres. The spheres themselves are self-sustaining, and do not require mental concentration to keep them in a state of activation, they merely exist. However, should Hinome run low, she can generate more spheres through her Six Paths Chakra, given she has the power to manifest Tenseigan chakra mode. The spheres do not, however, recover on their own; if Hinome does not will it, she will enter Tenseigan chakra mode with the same number of orbs she had when she last deactivated the form.

Taijutsu Edit

As a Hyūga, and the heir of the Hyūga clan, Hinome can be considered one of the foremost Taijutsu experts in the entirety of Konohagakure. Her style of combat focuses on mastering the lethal and legendary Gentle Fist. This art, a precise Taijutsu taught only to members of the Hyūga clan, best compliments their Byakugan's unique abilities to peer into the human body, and revolves around inflicting internal damage to the opponent's chakra pathway system through surigically forcing chakra into their body; in addition to damaging the chakra pathway system, this can also cause damage to an opponent's internal organs, due to how close in proximity the pathway system is entwined with them. The slightest tap can cause crippling damage to the target, hence the name 'gentle' fist.

The key to the use of Hyūga-style Taijutsu (日向流 体術 Hyūga-ryū Taijutsu; lit. "Hyūga Method of Body Arts") is the perception of the opponents movements through expert use of the Byakugan. Through careful exploitation of these movements, Hinome is capable of turning the tide of the battle to her side with her Gentle Fist through a three-step battle style referred to as Suiryūsei (水流静, "Water Flow Control"; literally "commanding the movement of the water"), illustrating how her technique works precisely. Suiryūsei works as a three-step method: first, analyzing and understanding the flow of her opponents movements. As a user of the Byakugan, observation and analyzing are skills that come second nature to Hinome; through observing the chakra within their body through the Byakugan, as well as their movements in the flesh, Hinome is capable of understanding the 'flow' of an opponents strength, and in turn, perceiving their actions. Years of training as the heir to the Hyūga clan has given Hinome a particularly high level of skill in this regard, capable of gaining a true understanding of her opponent's flow within minutes.

The second step of Suiryūsei is 'blending into the flow'; this step requires Hinome to use the knowledge she's gleaned from observing the flow of her opponent's moves and match her movements to the opponent as best she can. With this method, Hinome and her opponent appear as mirror images of each other, and she utilizes this step not as way to equal her opponent, but to lead them into her third and final step. While matching the opponent's wavelength and movement, Hinome will slowly begin to distance herself from the flow of her opponent, and begin to battle at her own pace. Moving away from her opponent's flow and gradually towards her own brings her opponent along with her, effectively forcing them to keep pace with her, as opposed to the other way around.

The third and final step is the complete and total disruption of the opponent's flow. Once the opponent has been drawn into the unfamiliar territory of Hinome's flow, their movements would naturally begin to offset themselves as they try to keep pace with her own movements. When the opponent slacks in this stage of the technique, Hinome has completely steered the flow of the battle in her favour, and can begin to deliver more crushing blows and techniques with the Gentle Fist, such as shutting down tenketsu, or deliberately attacking the chakra pathway system.

The Suiryūsei is the key to the Hyūga's Gentle Fist, being a key component for particularly skilled fighters of the Hyūga clan.

Despite its massive offensive skill, Hinome's taijutsu has defensive aspects that make the Hyūga possessors of some of the strongest defensive skills in the ninja world — more appropriately referred to as an absolute defence (絶対防御, zettai bōgyo). This technique is the Eight Trigrams Palms Revolving Heaven, a technique that creates a sphere of chakra around the Hyūga's body by releasing chakra from all of the chakra points in the body simultaneously. Hinome, due to mastering the principles of the Gentle Fist, she is capable of controlling the size of the Revolving Heaven to a level no other Hyūga can match, shrinking it to the finest point, or releasing a sphere with enough size to resemble a storm of chakra. The limit to the size is limited only by the scope of her Byakugan, as Hinome's massive chakra reserves mean a limit in this sense is not technically a factor.

Trivia Edit

  • Due to the power Hinome exhibits, Darkrai has proclaimed her as 'story-only', as the status of 'Sage of Six Paths' makes her unfair in competition against most other characters. Darkrai can use her in roleplays he decides on, but only upon the opponent's request.
  • The name "Hinome" means "Sunlight". This follows the trend of several Hyūga surnames referring to the sun or sunlight in some form.
    • Her name also follows the common trend of Hyūga forenames beginning with an "H".
  • Hinome shares a few superficial similarities with the infamous Seireitou Hyūga; both are members of the main branch of their clan, both are the transmigrant of a powerful figure in Shinobi history that was the progenitor of the Hyūga bloodline, Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, the progenitor of the Uchiha, Uzumaki, Senju, and Hyūga clans, and Hamura Ōtsutsuki, the direct progenitor of the Hyūga clan. Additionally, neither Seireitou nor Hinome match the gender of the individual to whom they are the transmigrant; Seireitou is a man, while Kaguya was a woman, and Hinome is a woman, while Hamura was a man. Both share the blood type "O". And finally, both use dōjutsu in irregular ways; Seireitou's Byakugan is written as expanded from the basic canon material, while Hinome's Byakugan has evolved into a unique dōjutsu.
  • The term Suiryūsei (水流静, "Water Flow Control"; literally "commanding the movement of the water") was lent by User:Silver-haired Seireitou for use on this article.
